Our TV debut aired tonight!!

Tonight my husband and I were guests on Hobbies Crafts and Collectables.  It's a local TV show that is a half an hour long.  The hostess Duska Cornwell interviewed my husband and I together.  Him for his Antler Chandeliers and Lamps and me for my handpainted glass Christmas Ornaments, Turkey Feathers and Glass Lanterns.  I was so nervous..kept clearing me throat!  We have had so many nice comments about our segment.  My husband and I are both so thankful for the opportunity to share what we love to do with all of you:)

LIVE...LAUGH....LOVE FLOOR MAT

I painted this floor mat awhile back as a house warming gift for my son and daughter in law.  They have a beautiful new home and this mat goes perfect with their decor in their brand new kitchen!  I love painting floor mats...they are so fun and easy to paint on!  If you have never done it you should give it a try :)

Hand Painted Glass Christmas Ornaments

These are one of my most requested items to paint every year.  I started painting glass christmas ornaments when my husband I first got married over 30 years ago.  Family and friends wanted them and then I started selling them right off my christmas tree.  Once I started doing craft shows customers started collecting several every year.  I have often been ask to paint one for a new baby, a new house and other specail occations. Most people want me to personalize the back  of the ornament with a name and date.  The last few years people have brought me pictures of their house or their childhood home and ask me to paint it on an ornament for them and make it into a winter scene.  Although these ornaments with all the tiny details take me awhile to paint...they are still some of my favorite things to paint!

I've Been Horsing Around.......

I've been "Horsing Around" painting this glass lantern! hehe  One of my favorite craft shows is the one I do at Gordyville in a GIANT Horse Barn.  They hold international horse shows there and they also have flea markets and once a year a Giant Christmas Craft Show!  Alot of my customers have horses and are always asking me to paint horses on stuff for them.  This is one of the lanterns I painted for that show this year :)

The box itself is a gift they will love!  Here are a few that I have painted.....

SEASONS GREETINGS

A couple of years ago I painted a cardboard refrigerator box to use as a back drop in my booth.  My hopes were that it would draw people into my booth and boy it sure did!  People kept wanting to buy it...but I explained that it wouldnt hold up very well being on cardboard!  So I went home and created 10 different signs and painted them on a 4' X 2' piece of wood.  I thought this would be a managable size for  people to display and it would fit in their car to take home! These big signs are perfect to display in a window, on your porch, in an entry way.  I even had a lady ask me to paint a larger one to be part of an outdoor display for a Christmas walk her house was part of!!!   Here are a few that I painted....

I am calling it the BIRD HOUSE watering can :D I painted lots of cute bird houses all the way around the can along with bumble bee's, lady bugs, dragon fly's, an inch worm and some pretty little flowers! There's even a birds nest with eggs in it! On the top of the can I painted a smiling sun shine girl! This can will look really cute sitting on someones front porch to water all those beautiful summer flowers! I hope you like it...it is going on e-bay soon.

How To Remove Stubborn Stickers

I recently had some trouble getting a very stubborn sticker off of a watering can I wanted to paint on. I posted a question on Face Book asking for idea's on how to remove it. Here is what I got:

1. Hair Dryer (heat it up and peel it off)
2. Fingernail Polish Remover (rub over sticker and scrap off)
3. Peanut Butter (apply, let sit and then scrap off)
4. Vegetable Oil (apply, let sit and scrap off)
5. Goo Gone (Found at the Dollar Tree for $1)
6. Wall Paper Remover.

There were so many good ideas and thought I would share them. so the next time you have a stubborn sticker and you can not get it off...try one of these idea's :D

WATERING CAN

5/12/11 Well I think I am done with this watering can. I can't decide whether or not to add a checkerd pattern to the bottom rim of the can or leave it the way it is. Once I decide I still need to seal the can and then it is ready to sell :)

***AMERICA***

Two days ago I started working on this cute little cabnit. I layed awake half the night trying to decide what I wanted to paint on it! lol I had no way of knowing what all was about to take place in our world. With Memorial Day and the Fourth Of July coming up I had decided to paint something patriotic. After the news last night being patriotic holds a little more meaning to me.

TRASH TO TREASURE ENAMEL CONTAINER

I love taking something old and making it into something useful again. A customer of mine ask me to paint on the lid of the this enamel refrigerator container. I adapted a Renee Mullins pattern of a Raggedy Ann to paint on the lid. I also painted scrapbooking supplies on the lid. My customer is going to use this container to store some of her scrapbooking supplies in. What a neat idea! I loved the way it turned out and so did she!!

Trash to Treasure

I love to find something old and make it into something useful again. This is the lid to an old enamel refigerator container that I have painted on for a customer. She tells me she plans to keep all of her cookie cutters in it! She has a set of open shelves in her kitchen where she plans on displaying it. This container measures 8" X 20" and is about 3" deep. What a cool way to use this old container!!

Hand Painted Easter Eggs

I love painting these wooden Easter Eggs...so much so that I never want to sell them.  I just keep adding to my Easter basket!  They are fun to  paint.  First I paint a wooden egg black.  When it is dry I use a pencil and draw on my design.  I like to look at quilt patterns for ideas.  Don't worry if you make a mistake you can just paint over it and start again!  Once I have decided on a design and have it drawn onto the egg it is time to start painting.  I like to pick out three or four colors that I think look good together and start filling in the design on the egg.  Once I have painted the design on the entire egg I go back over it and outline everything with paint.  I usually use black, but depending on what I have painted I might use another color.  After the egg is good and dry it is time to seal it.  I use a liquid clear gloss sealer and brush it on with a foam brush.  Give it a try...it is addicting!
